Got a new router

Well I finnaly got a new wireless gateway - now that the 802.11n standard is closed to being finalized, I thought I would jump on the 802.11g bandwagon :-)

Actually this is a wrt54gl - the linux based variant of the ubiquitous wrt54g router/gateway. One of the things I still have not been able to replace is the Paralell port print server on my SMC barricade. I need to find a way to replace that without blowing 150$ on the print servers I have found so far - I can't justify spending more on a "connector" than I did on the printer 6 years ago !!

This is my initial setup, so it's just to get it working - and see if it will improve the throughput to my DSM-320 - and it did. Now I can stream the tete-a-claques videos I downloaded from their site. It was a great success!!

As an asside, the videos are flash streams embeded as objects in the web page, they are easily downloaded using wget, and then converted using ffmpeg.

Of course this does not help the fact that the DMS-320 is still a 1st generation product - I have read reviews of its HD younger brother the DSM-520HD - but I'm getting carried away.

Something I found useful was a Linksys Answer Bulletin that was very helpfull (I have taged it in Del.icio.us in case it gets lost). Of course this will not help me the other way around as the SMC does not have the same features - notably the routing part.

I will be detailing my setup on my wiki.
